Each summer, Dunbar Free Library hosts a multi-week Summer Reading Program for all ages, with movies, arts & crafts, storytelling, and teen activities. The program is supported by the Friends of the Dunbar Free Library and local sponsors.
Editor note: the weekly schedule below is carried over from the 2026 program (June 15–August 2), which has already concluded. Replace it with next year’s schedule when it’s set — just edit the list below, no code needed. Keeping last year’s line-up as a placeholder in the meantime so the page isn’t empty.
Weekly Highlights (2026 program, for reference)
- Week 1 (June 15–21): Aaron Jones — Singing + Dancing, a screening of The Good Dinosaur, and dinosaur-themed art activities.
- Week 2 (June 22–28): Our America Series: Redcoats & Rebels, a screening of The Princess Diaries, and Mario Kart gaming for teens.
- Week 3 (June 29–July 5): Our America Series: USA @ 250, and a screening of Inside Out.
- Week 4 (July 6–12): A screening of Zootopia, plus Meet + Read to Charlee the Therapy Dog and pizza.
- Week 5 (July 13–19): Holiday-themed programming and a screening of Mary Poppins Returns.
- Week 6 (July 20–26): Multimedia art sessions and a screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
- Week 7 (July 27–August 2): A screening of Zootopia 2, and the finale with storyteller Simon Brooks on August 1st.
Program finale: A celebration with raffle prizes and storytelling, held at the Lower Level of Grantham Town Hall.
