Currently, there are no exciting developments in the library’s future construction, renovation, or amendment!
July of 2018, Firm closing for the library due to the insulation project is Monday the 20th of August, and Wednesday the 22nd, meaning of course, a really long weekend from Saturday afternoon until Thursday morning.
It is May 2018, and a few things are happening: Trumbull Nelson is repairing and replacing some siding, and all the bits that didn’t get painted during 2015/16 construction are being done now.
Then Shakes to Shingles will be coming at the end of July to vastly improve and augment the insulation situation of the original building and address some faults to the same in the ’99 addition. This may require some hours adjustments, but the project is scheduled to take approximately 14 days, and the times we have to close the WHOLE building should be measured in days, maybe even just 1. We will probably, however, have to shut the center portion of the building and enter via the front door for children’s materials and the back door for adult materials. In addition, the YA, adult audio, and most video collections will be unavailable for possibly a week. There will have more specifics as the end of July comes closer.
Five-Year Strategic Plan: 2017-2022
Things about the 2016 renovation/addition you may not be aware of:
- we have installed an AV system to show movies and facilitate program speakers.
- We have beautiful new landscaping.
- Two local girl scouts have created a butterfly garden with bird bath to facilitate more pollinators, among other reasons!
